For clips that are not Shorts
Not every short video is a Short. Trailers, game highlights, quick tutorials and music snippets are often regular landscape uploads of one to five minutes. This page saves those clips as MP4 files that play on any phone, computer or TV.
Saving a clip as MP4
- Copy the link of the YouTube video.
- Paste it into the box at the top.
- MP4 (720p) is selected. Change it in the Video group if you need a different size.
- Press Download, wait for "Download ready" on the result card, then press Download on the card.
In our test, a short landscape video was ready as a 720p MP4 in about 18 seconds.
Picking the size for a short clip
- To send in WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal: 720p or 480p. Chat apps shrink large files anyway.
- To watch again on a laptop: 1080p.
- To show on a TV or projector: 1080p or higher, if the upload offers it.
- To save space with many clips: 360p is often enough for talking-head videos.
Because the clip is short, even a 1080p file stays manageable: a few dozen to a few hundred megabytes, not gigabytes. You can afford a higher setting more often than with long videos.
Cutting and sharing
MP4 is the format that phone editors expect. After saving, you can trim the clip in the Photos app on iPhone, in Google Photos on Android, or in CapCut and similar apps. Keep the original file if you plan to edit several versions. On a computer, the free editors Shotcut and DaVinci Resolve open the same files.
Landscape or upright?
This page keeps the frame the uploader chose. A wide video stays wide, and an upright Short stays upright. If you mostly save upright clips, the Shorts downloader explains which size works best for them.
Highlights from long videos
Sometimes the clip you want sits inside a long video, such as one goal in a full match or one step in a long tutorial. The tool saves the whole video, so pick a lower size like 480p to keep the file small, then trim the part you need in a phone editor. Delete the long file afterwards to free space.
Sending clips to friends
A saved clip goes out as a normal video file, so friends can watch it without opening YouTube. For chat apps, 720p gives a good balance between a sharp picture and a fast send.
A small clip library
Clips are easy to collect and hard to find again. Give each file a short name that says what is in it, such as "penalty-final-2026" or "bread-recipe-step-3". Sort them into a few folders, and back up the ones you made yourself to cloud storage or a computer.

MP4 clip questions
Can I save a longer video here too?
Yes, the page accepts long videos as well. They simply take more time and make bigger files.
Does the MP4 work in CapCut?
Yes. CapCut imports MP4 from your gallery or your files like any other video.
Can I save a clip from a channel page?
Open the video first, then copy its link. A channel link alone does not point to one clip.
Is the sound included?
Yes. The MP4 holds video and audio together.
Why does the picture look soft?
The original upload may be low quality, or you chose a small size. Try 1080p, and check which quality the video offers on YouTube.
